Golden Ego

Helena Bonham Carter seemed mildly annoyed tonight with the winner for Best Supporting Actress, Melissa Leo. Leo's exuberance and giddiness were typical for a first win.  However, HBC was caught rolling her eyes while revealing a lame, snobbish scowl during the actress's acceptance speech.   Leo, though happily befuddled, was doing her best to transform shock and awe into gratitude and wit. I thought she did quite well.

Queen Helena-  if you can't remember what it was like to win your first award and get in touch with that sort of humble appreciation for where you are and what you do... well, then you've lost something precious.  I'd rather never succeed in my profession than get so bored and jaded that I lose that little piece of me that's still hoping to be better and striving to be more--all the while grateful that I'm doing what I love.

Just this actor's humble opinion.
